Both wars were based on fabricated incidents, the mythical weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and false reports of attacks by North Vietnamese patrol boats on American warships in the Gulf of Tonkin. If Congress had done its constitutional due diligence and required declaration of wars, we might have avoided the dreadful consequences of both conflicts. |
